778,666. Mixing-machines. PHILLIPS, J. B, and WRIGHT, A. June 10, 1955,:No. 7375/54. Class 86 [Also in Group XVIII]: A vessel 10 for containing milk has a valve controlled inlet 19 through which pressure air can be admitted for the purpose of activating milk contained in the vessel to ensure that the fat is homogeneously distributed, and a valve controlled outlet (not shown) through which a sample of the milk can be withdrawn. The inlet 19 and the outlet are connected to a single housing 15 for a plug valve 16 having two end positions in which either the inlet or outlet is placed in communication with a bore 20 and a central position, as shown, in which the bore is isolated from both the inlet and outlet. A flexible tube 34 permanently or temporarily connects the bore 20 to a nozzle tube 25 screwed into a disc 24 having an annular series of apertures 31 to co-operate with a similar series. of apertures 32 in a disc 26 which is resiliently mounted on the tube 25 by washers 27, 28 and a nut 29. The disc 26 is turned by a handle 30 so that the apertures are out of alignment and the milk to be tested is filled into the vessel 10. The valve 16 is turned to admit pressure air to the nozzle 25 and is then turned to allow a sample to be drawn from the outlet. When the valve 16 has been returned to its central position, the apertures 31 and 32 are brought into alignment and the remainder of the milk is discharged into a churn 11 which supports the vessel 10 by means of an interposed ring 12.
