Abstract
The invention comprises 41 - halogenated derivatives of 2 : 4 - bis - diethylaminoethoxy-desoxybenzoin having the general formula: <FORM:0778645/IV(b)/1> where X is halogen and the salts thereof; also a process of preparing them by reacting a parahalogen-phenylacetyl halide with resorcinol, neutralizing with an alkaline compound and treating the product with a diethylaminoethyl halide. In examples, 2 : 4-dihydroxy-41-bromo-desoxybenzoin and the corresponding 41-chloro-and 41-iodo-compounds are prepared by the action of the required parahalogen-phenyl-acetyl chloride on resorcinol, in presence of AlCl3; the amino-desoxybenzoin products corresponding to the above formula with bromine, chlorine or iodine as X are obtained by the action of sodium and diethylaminoethyl chloride on the hydroxy compounds, and are isolated as sulphate or dihydrochloride.
