Abstract
778,589. Cylinders. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 16, 1956, No. 1464/56. Classes 7 (2) and 7 (3). In a two-stroke engine cylinder uniflowscavenged from a ring of terminal inlet ports 25 and in which fuel is injected at 31 into a swirling air charge and ignited at 37 to form a flame front 39 as in Specification 666,507 uniformity both of angular swirl velocity and of upward scavenging air flow velocity over the cylinder cross-section is assisted by forming the ports 25 with their bottom portions directed radially of the cylinder and their top portions directed tangentially to a circle internal to and concentric with the cylinder. Two exhaust ports 17 leading to a common manifold are provided.
