[Also in Group XXVIII] A receptacle for liquified gas adapted for charging a liquified gas lighter is made by forming a cylindrical part with an open end of a wall thickness greater than at the other end and closing the open end by a second part, the parts interfitting and being secured together by an organic material so positioned as to be urged principally by a shearing action. An extruded aluminium tube 1, having its closed end formed as at 2 with an orifice 3 for the filling and outflow of the liquified gas, has its wall thicker at the open end. A closing member 5 is inserted into open end and secured therein by a synthetic resin 6, the arrangement being such that the thin part of the wall of the tube 1 splits before the resin 6 shears. The member 5 may alternatively be secured with its rounded base outwards instead of inwards. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the tube 1 fits into, and is secured to, the closing member 5. In another modification, Fig. 3, the tube 1 with a closed end 8 and a thick-walled open end is closed by a part 9 having an orifice 3, secured by a synthetic resin. Alternatively, Fig. 4 (not shown), the part 9 surrounds the open end of the tube 1. The tube may be of polygonal, e.g. rectangular cross-section. The adhesive may be a resin of the ethoxyline class or a gum with a cellulose base.
