Two sets of liquid fuel dispensing stands A, B, Fig. 1, are normally supplied independently from corresponding electric-motor driven pumps drawing fuel from corresponding tanks, but a suitable valve and switch means permit at least one of the sets of stands to be supplied from the pump and tank corresponding to the other set. The invention is described as applied to the system of Specifications 778,171 and 778,173. The wipers 300, 301, 302, 303 of the rotary switch shown in Fig. 2 serve to connect lines 122a, 122b, energized through lines 120 by switches 108a on any of the stands A and switches 108b on any of the stands B respectively to energize either the pump A or the pump B. In the position of the switch 130 illustrated the switches 108a associated with the stands A control the pump A while the switches 108b associated with the stands B control the pump B. In the two alternative positions of the switch 130 however, all the switches 108a, 108b on the stands A and B control one only of the pumps A, B. The delivery pipes of the two pumps are connected by a line including a valve which may be operated manually or may be operated by a solenoid controlled by a further bank on the switch 130.
