Abstract

776,004. Electrically-released switches. STEPHENS, F. W. Sept. 6, 1954, No 25762/54. Class 38(5) A screw-plug type circuit-breaker comprises a slidable, rotatable conductor 25 connected to an overload reset push button 16 and carrying a disc contact 27, the conductor connecting contacts 26 on the ends of bimetals 9 and a spring contact 42 in series when the breaker is closed. The bimetals release the conductor 25 on overload and it rises under the influence of spring 19 and contact 42 so that contacts 27 and, 42 are separated. A fusible strip 34 is provided which fuses in the event of the breaker not operating sufficiently rapidly in fault. In reclosing, the parts are first moved to the dotted position shown. in which an insulating shroud 28 causes separation of contacts 27, 32, contact being remade when the button is released and the parts assume their normal closed position
