Abstract

775,305. Two-part couplings. CLANG, Ltd., AUSTEN, H. E., and HARWOOD, C. D. June 17, 1955 [May 18, 1954], No. 14537/54. Class 38 (1). The base 4 of an adaptor (or plug) is formed with a pocket 15 adjacent the line pin 2 in which is located a pair of spring contacts 9, 12 adapted to receive a cartridge fuse 13. The contacts are connected respectively to a conductor 8 and the pin 2 and are of the type which tend to eject the fuse, this being normally prevented by a retainer 14 which is slid axially into the pocket and has a cover 17 which closes the pocket. Inclined shoulders 20 on the retainer co-operate with an inclined surface 16 in the pocket as the retainer is inserted and cause it to press the fuse down into the contacts. Conductor 8 is connected to a conductor 7 and they together form the line socket contacts 5B, 6B of axial and lateral socket outlets protected by shutters 5c, 6c. Two pockets may be provided either for fusing two pins or, according to the Provisional Specification, one pocket may house a spare fuse. Specification 734,206 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
