Abstract

774,553. Binding-posts. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 18, 1954 [Nov. 18, 1953], No. 33459/54. Class 38 (1). A terminal connector, particularly for connecting a flexible lead 47 to the end 46 of a heating element, comprises a housing consisting of a base 7 and cover 8 and containing one or more spring looking members 25 similar to those disclosed in Specification 773,787. The locking member 25 clamps the conductor 46 against a wall 10 of the base on insertion of the conductor through a hole 20 and has an integral anchoring strip 27 located in grooves 28 in the base and to which lead 47 is soldered. The cover is secured on the base by a bolt 15 and is capable of pivotal movement about an edge defined by walls 12, 13, the hole 16 in the base for the bolt being sufficiently large to permit such movement. Thus to remove conductor 46 the bolt is raised by a tool 50 until the cover 8 bears on locking member 25 and releases it from the conductor. Two locking members located in the base may be interconnected by a cross-bar (Fig. 5, not shown).
