Abstract

773,924. Multiple twisting spindles. MORAWEK, W. July 29, 1955 [Aug. 2, 1954], No. 22031/55. Class 120 (2). A multiple twisting spindle having a rotating delivery cap and a bobbin can that is held or is adapted to be held stationary, is characterized in that the bobbin can is provided externally with axially spaced rings each having a scraping or knife edge for removing loose parts of the thread and arranged to protect the delivery cap from accumulations of such parts. In the arrangement shown, feed bobbin 1 is mounted on the stationary hollow spindle 2 and surrounded by a can 3 which is rotatably mounted at 5 on the spindle bore but is held fast against rotation by magnets 6 and 7. Below the can 3 is a delivery cap 8 which rotates with the spindle 4. The can 3 has a ring 11 which is of somewhat greater diameter than the top edge of the cap 8 and has a scraping or knife like edge 12. Above the ring 11 the can is provided with further rings of progressively increasing diameter as shown at 15 and then rings of decreasing diameter as indicated at 16 and so on, to conform with the configuration of the ballooning yarn. The rings may be provided with holes or slots as indicated at 20 to permit material wiped off the thread to get away and prevent accumulations thereof. The normal so called separators between each two spindles of the machine may also be provided with rings having scraping or knife like edges as shown at 19 and these may be placed appropriately along the entire length of the spindle, e.g., in alternating relation to the rings on the can.
