Abstract

773,456. Condensation pumps. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 26, 1955 [April 29, 1954], No. 12012/55. Class 71 A vapour trap 4 normally maintained at below -40‹C and located between a condensation, pump 1 and a vessel 10 being evacuated comprises a cooling plate 8 in the path of the reverse flowing vapours and is adapted so as to be maintained at such a temperature, e.g.; above -30‹C that the vapour condenses thereon in the liquid but not the solid phase. The plate 7 is cooled by liquid air in a chamber 5 connected therewith by a metal conductor 7. In a modification the conductor 11, Fig. 2 (not shown) is wrapped with an electric heating coil whereby temperature control of the plate 8 is enhanced.
