772,907. Supersensitized photographic emulsions. KODAK, Ltd. July 19, 1955 [July 20, 1954]. No. 20818/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) Photographic silver halide emulsions are supersensitized with a combination of at least one dye of the formula:- wherein R and R 1 are alkyl or substituted alkyl groups, R 2 is an alkoxy group, X is an acid radical and Z and Z<SP>1</SP> complete five-membered heterocyclic nuclei, and at least one dye of the formula:- wherein R 3 and R 4 are alkyl groups, Q completes an indandione or heterocyclic nucleus, Z 2 completes a benzothiazole naphthothiazole benzoselenazole. naphthaseleneazole or naphthoxazole nucleus and Z 3 compleses a naphthothiazole or naphthoselenazole nucleus. In the examples R and R 1 are methyl or ethyl, R 2 is methoxy or ethoxy, Z and Z, complete naphthathiazole or benzthiazole nuclei, R 3 and R 4 are ethyl and Q completes 1:3-di (#-methoxyethyl) barbituric acid, a 3-phenyl-5-isoxazolone or a 1, 3-indandione nucleus.
