Abstract

772,798. Taximeters. KIENZLE APPARATE GES. Aug. 2,1955, No. 22137/55. Addittion to 772,797. Class 106 (3). In a taximeter having multiple tariff rate devices driven by mixed time and distance drives provision is made for electrically changing the tariff after the elapse of a predetermined time or distance or a combination of both. The fare indicating driving means includes a disc 1 having a slot 3, the length of which determines the time period after which the tariff change is to be made as in the parent Specification, the disc 1 have a stop 61 engaging a contact lever 4 so as to move its contact 7 from engagement with a fixed contact 10 to engagement with another fixed contact 8, thereby de-energizing relay 21 and energizing relay 22 to operate the tariff gear change levers 17, 18. The contact lever 4 is carried by a lever 5 pivoted at 62 and subjected to a spring 6 so that a " snap " change-over takes place, the other end of the tipping lever 5 having a follower 12 which, in the " For Hire " position of the flag or operating spindle 13, engages a cam surface 15 preventing movement of the tipping lever 5 from its neutral position and moving it so that contacts 7 and 10 engage when the flag is moved to the " Hired position. Other arrangements of relay circuits are described and in a further embodiment two slotted control discs 1 are provided enabling three different tariffs to be successively engaged.
