Abstract

771,217. Photographic roll films. ILFORD Ltd. Aug. 12, 1955, No. 23316/55. Class 98(1) A photographic roll film having a paper backing strip tapered at its outermost end is sealed with a sealing strip which bridges the tapered end, which is not folded, and the underlying outer coil of paper and which is stuck only along its marginal edges to itself or to the backing strip or both and is provided with a free end not so stuck, the sealing strip being so located with respect to the tapered end of the backing strip that the extreme terminal edge of the backing strip lies wholly between the stuck marginal edges of the sealing strip. As shown, the backing paper 2 terminates in a tapered portion 3 and the roll is sealed by the paper strip 4 which is stuck at its margins 5 partly to itself and partly to the backing paper 2. The strip 4 has a free end 6, and on stripping this away the paper 4 tears along the margins and uncovers the tapered end 3 of the backing paper, which can then be pulled to cut through the remaining marginal strips.
