Abstract

769,668. Waveguide coupling circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 27, 1955 [May 28, 1954], No. 15432/55. Class 40 (8). A multiplexing arrangement for coupling a number of transmitters or receivers operating at different frequencies to a common waveguide 4 comprises a number of tunable resonant cavities 27 each of which is coupled to the waveguide 4 by an aperture 35 in the end wall of the waveguide. Each cavity is tuned by a tuning screw or plug 39 and is connected to a receiver or transmitter by a coaxial line 24. The Specification describes a known arrangement (Fig. 1, not shown) in which the resonant cavities are coupled by apertures to the narrow side wall of the waveguide 4 and each aperture is spaced from the short circuited end wall of the waveguide by a distance equal to an odd number of quarter-wavelengths at the resonant frequency of the corresponding cavity.
