Abstract

769,547. Earth-stabilizing apparatus. POTTKAMPER, G. LEHMANN-. May 13, 1955, No. 13950/55. Class 68 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] The out-of-balance force set up in a mechanical vibrator may be infinitely varied from a predetermined maximum to a zero value by regulation of fluid that can act on one end of a spring-biased piston 16 slidably positioned in a cylinder 15 disposed in and at right angles to the axis of rotation of a rotor U. Fluid passes to the cylinder 15 through passages 29, 32, 33 in the rotor to urge the piston 16 against a spring 20, and the position of the piston in the cylinder 15 is dependent upon the magnitude of the pressure of the fluid, which is preferably a liquid. The ends of the cylinder are constituted by covers 17, 18 that are bolted to the rotor, the cover 17 making a fluid tight seal with the rotor. Abutments 19, 22 limit the movement of the piston.
