Abstract

769,309. Agricultural implements. ROTARY HOES, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1954 [Sept. 30, 1953], No. 26812/53. Class 6(1). A rotary cultivator is provided with blades 23 which are sufficiently narrow in the circumferential direction of the rotor and have a sufficiently small angle of attack for them to cut the ground into sods without gaining a sufficient engagement with the sods for tossing them in the air. As shown the blades are U- shaped and are mounted on discs 22 fixed to a shaft 21. Weed cutter blades 26 are adjustably mounted on a transverse member 30 of the machine and extend into the spaces between the blades to make peripheral contact with the discs for shearing weeds which might otherwise become entrained by the rotor.
