Abstract

766,831. Golf club heads. HARDWOOD DIMENSIONS, Ltd. July 6, 1955 [July 6, 1954], No. 19694/54. Class 132(2). A golf club head is formed of at least two portions bonded together, one portion B of persimmon to give the requisite hardness and/or resilience for the neck b of the club and a further portion C bonded to the first portion to form the back of the head. As shown in Fig. 1, two portions only are used and, after machining the portion B also provides the striking face. As shown in Fig. 4, an additional portion A is bonded to the portion B to provide the striking face. Portions A and B may be made e.g. of persimmon, in the case of portion A, of harder wood. The grain in portion B runs parallel to the neck and the grain in portion A and C runs parallel to the ground. The portion A may be made of metal and the portion B may be weighted with metal. After machining, a plate may be secured to the head to form the striking face.
