Abstract
766,175. Frozen food blocks. GUMBEL, E. Sept. 21, 1954, No. 27326/54. Class 49 In preserving perishable goods, e.g. fruit, meat, fish, by deep freezing, the goods are frozen in outwardly sloping moulds, the moulds are inverted after their contents have been solidly frozen and are subjected to an external heating at a temperature of 1000‹C. or more for only a few seconds. In Fig. 2 is illustrated a continuous operation. Rectangular-base aluminium moulds c with outwardly-sloping sides and a rim parallel to the base are charged to about ¥ the capacity at f, are conveyed through a freezing tunnel e, are turned upside down on leaving this tunnel, are, in this position conveyed through a tunnel g and there subjected to the brief intense heating by burners h, whereupon dry, frozen blocks, ready .for packing, fall from the moulds.
