765,709. Electric room heaters. HAY. W. O., WYLIE, A. E., MALONE, E. J., and FABER, T. F. Aug. 31, 1954 [Sept. 2, 1953], ,No. 25277/54. Class 39(3) An electric room heater which may be used under floor coverings comprises a heating element 4, preferably formed of iron strip, located between sheets 7, 8 of insulating material such as oiled cambric stitched at 11 to form passages for the element. A sheet 9 of metal foil and a sheet 10 of fire resistant material such as asbestos are secured above and beneath sheets 7, 8 respectively. The sheets 7-10 and a topmost covering 13, which can be cloth or similar material, are secured together by stitching 12. Alternatively or additionally adhesive may be used. A heater in the form of a mat 6 feet x 3 feet may operate on 16 volts and consume 330 to 660 watts. The element may be of wire.
