765,572. Thermal switches. SINGLETON, S. A. March 4, 1955 [March 5, 1954], No. 6560/54. Class 38(5) A switch for a fire alarm comprises contacts e<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>1</SP> mounted respectively on a leaf spring e and a bimetal blade b located in a casing c, and a bimetal blade a outside the casing and mechanically connected to the spring e. Blade a responds to rapid temperature rises to push contact e<SP>1</SP> into engagement with contact b<SP>1</SP>, but on slow increases blades a, b and springs e move together until, at a predetermined temperature, blade b abuts a stop q and the contacts close. A dustproof cover d is fitted and casing c is sealed so as to be dust and moisture-proof. In an alternative arrangement, the contacts are normally closed, and open on temperature rises.
