Abstract

765,220. Ear-piercing appliances. PERVINKLER, P. L. March 16, 1955 [Dec. 16, 19531, No. 35041/53. Class 81(2) An ear-piercing device comprising a cylinder 11 containing an outer plunger 14 for pressing the ear lobe against one arm 34 of a U-shaped pressure plate 12 attached to the cylinder 11, and an inner plunger 21 for projection beyond the outer plunger 14 and the cylinder 11, is characterized by the provision, in the base 32 and arm 30 of the U-shaped plate nearest the cylinder 11, of a slot 31 wide enough to allow a large ornament 44 on a sleeper ring 37 to pass through and, in the other arm 34 of the U-shaped plate, a narrow slot 35 for the passage of a needle 36 and the sleeper ring 37. On pressing a head 29 to project the inner plunger 21, the outer plunger 14 is also projected, by the action of a spring 23, against a weaker spring 16 so that the ear lobe is gripped between the end 15 of the outer plunger 14 and one arm 34 of the U-shaped plate 12. Further pressure on the head 29 compresses the stronger spring 23 to project the inner plunger 21 alone beyond the end of the cylinder 11 and causes the needle 36 to pierce the ear lobe. One end of the sleeper ring 37 is carried by the needle 36 and is drawn through the ear lobe with the needle 36 when the remainder of the apparatus has been removed.
