Abstract
763,856. Clamps. DREYFUSS, I., and DREYFUSS, G. June 28, 1954 [July 9, 1953], No. 18845/54. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A connector for tubes or the like comprises a base with an inturned flange 20, two clamping elements 22, 23 seated on the base and having feet 24 adapted to engage beneath the flange, a spacing member 25 located between the clamping elements 22, 23 to hold them apart so that both are retained in engagement beneath the flange, and screw means 27, 28 for urging together the clamping elements and thereby gripping a tube 26 or the like located between them. As shown, a channel 21 formed by the flange 20 is provided with teeth which prevent rotation of the elements 22, 23 in the channel after tightening: Cams 31 provided on the under surface of the base support a stirrup 35 and screw bolt 37 for clamping to the base a second tube 36. The stirrup 35 may be provided with grooves. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the channel in the base is of semi-circular crosssection and the underside of the feet of the clamping elements are inclined to assist the clamping action. The channel may, alternatively, be of semi-elliptical cross-section. In both embodiments, the channel is in the form of a closed circular ring so that the tubes can be clamped in parallel planes at any angle to one another.
