763,412. Welding by pressure. GALLAY, Ltd. June 24, 1955 [Oct. 25, 1954], No. 30753/54. Class 83 (4). [Also in Groups X and XIII] To facilitate welding of a stainless steel envelope, i.e. plates 11, 12, and angle-section members 16 of a heat-insulating element (see Group XIII), a strip 19 is welded inside each member 16 before the envelope is filled with refractory fibre 14. The edge of the strip is first bent outwards at right-angles so that an edge 18 of the plate 11 may be superimposed on it, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the two edges are then clamped between the elements of a welding tool. The edges 18, 20 are finally turned down as shown and welded without clamping to the members 16.
