Abstract
760,236. Constructional toys. PAGE SENSIBLE TOYS, Ltd., H. Jan. 3, 1955 [Oct. 5, 1953], No. 27260/53. Class 132(3). A constructional toy comprises two plates, one adapted to be superimposed on the other, and both having slots for receiving a locking member which also engages a main component, the plates being capable of relative movement which results in the locking together of the plates and the locking member which member also secures the main component. A toy car consists of a plate constituting a chassis 8 having a slot 8D and provided with strips 8A, axle slots 8B and guide lugs 8C, the lugs locating a locking plate 7 having three T-slots S<SP>1</SP> and a front bumper member 7D. A main body member 14 is adapted to rest on ledges L formed on wings 9-12 and to engage over the rear end of a bonnet 15 which has lugs 15A for engagement in slots 16A<SP>1</SP> of a radiator 16. To assemble the toy the wheel axles are dropped in slots 8B and the chassis 8 is superimposed on the plate 7 so that the slot part 7A and slot 8D coincide. Wings 9-12 are then placed in position with their ledges L within the chassis strips 8A. After placing lugs 13A<SP>1</SP> of a main lock member 13 in slots 14A<SP>1</SP> of the body 14, the body is placed on the already set-up parts so that the T-head of the lock member 13 passes through the slot part 7A and slot 8D. The locking plate 7 is then slid rearwardly for a limited amount relative to the chassis and the assembly thus locked. In this initial locked position the front slot S<SP>1</SP> is fully exposed between the bumper 7D and the front edge of the chassis whilst at the other end of the chassis, the part 7C only of the rear slot is exposed. The bonnet 15 is next secured by passing its rear below the front of the body 14, the bonnet front being held by the radiator 16 of which the lower T-portion passes through the slot part 7B. Further rearward movement of the locking plate 7 now locks the radiator, side slots 16B<SP>1</SP> engaging in the slot part 7B. Finally, a rear lock plate 17 and a rear bumper 18 are positioned in the rear slot of the locking plate 7. The assembly is broken down by removing the rear bumper and rear lock plate, sliding the locking plate forwardly to enable the radiator to be withdrawn, and further sliding said plate until the main lock member 13 can be released.
