Abstract

759,908. Femoral prostheses. DAVIDSON, D. D. June 23, 1964 [June 23, 1953; Nov. 19, 1953], Nos. 17426/53 and 32116/53. Class 81(3). A prosthesis comprises an .inner shell closed at one end, an outer shell having an entrance for the closed end of the inner shell so that the outer shell surrounds the closed end of the inner shell, the marginal portions of the entrance of the outer shell being secured to the inner shell there being provided a spacing member on the closed end and between the shells, the spacing member being secured to one shell and having a surface abutting against a complemental surface on the other shell. An artificial femoral head comprises an outer shell 1 which is spherical and has an opening through which an inner shell 2 projects, the two shells being welded together at the opening in the outer shell 1. An intermediate member 5 is welded to the inner shell 2 and abuts against a complemental surface of the outer shell 1. The shells are formed from sheet stainless steel formed by spinning and/or pressing or by casting.
