Abstract
758,564. Valves. GLASCOCK BROS. MANUFACTURING CO. May 1, 1954, No. 12718/54. Class 135. In a faucet for pre-mixed carbonated beverage the body has transversely intersecting conduits 225, 250, the inlet to one having a conical seat 27a and carrying a hollow barrel 22 connected to the liquid source at 23a, and a valve 27 with an extension 253 which just clears the inside of the barrel so that the liquid flows to the seat as a thin sheet. The clearance increases exponentially towards the seat, the angle of the seat is chosen to reverse the liquid flow and avoid cavitation, and a vane 29 in the outlet 28 prevents swirling so that loss of carbonation of the beverage is avoided. A resilient sleeve 26 on the valve-actuating rod 24 closes a vent 23 when the valve 27 is opened and reopens it when the valve is released for closing by the pressure of the liquid acting on the extension.
