Abstract
757,638. Shovelling machines. AUSTIN, J. R. Feb. 17, 1954, No. 4692/54. Class 68 (1) In an overthrow loader the bucket 10 is mounted on the end of a pair of booms 11 pivoted for vertical swinging at 12a adjacent the rear axle of a tractor 5, and each boom is swung from a forwardly extending position to a vertical position in which. the bucket discharges rearwardly by links 17 and 18 pivoted together to form an up- )wardly directed elbow, link 17 being pivoted to the tractor at 17<SP>1</SP> between its axles and forwardly of the boom pivot, and link 18 being pivoted to the bucket at 20 or to the end of the boom. A double acting hydraulic cylinder and piston unit 22, 24 is connected between, a pivot 23 forwardly of the pivotal connection of link 17 and a pivot on a forwardly bent portion 19 of link 17 adjacent the pivotal connection to link 18, the arrangement being such that in the forward digging position of the bucket the cylinder 22 is substantially vertical. The pivots 12a, 17<SP>1</SP> and 23 are provided in a bracket 13 secured on the tractor frame. The digging angle of bucket 10 is adjustable by adjustable stays 15, the bucket being pivoted at 12 to each boom. The bucket can be stopped in the intermediate position shown by providing for control of cylinders 22 a reversing valve including a neutral position in which the fluid is bypassed direct to the return pipe and the connections to the cylinders are sealed off.
