Abstract
756,975. Door-operating apparatus. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd., and FALK, D. A. Jan. 18, 1955 [Jan. 25, 1954], No. 2216/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 65 (1). In a door-operating system for a lift or the like in which the cage door and the shaft door opposite which the cage is stopped are mechanically coupled together so as to be operated by a single power means and in which each door has an edge portion responsive to obstruction of the door during closing, the edge portion of the door which is indirectly operated is connected to mechanical means for transmitting an indication of obstruction to means on the other door whereby the operation of the power means is stopped or reversed. The edge portion of the directly-operated door may act on the same control means or independent means. In the arrangement described, the two doors are operated by power mechanism carried on the cage, and the edge portions of the doors are mounted on parallel links to move upwardly and inwardly on meeting an obstruction; the upper end of the edge portion of the shaft door abuts a roller on a slidable member which, when the edge portion of the door moves upwardly, acts through a linkage to swing out an arm to engage and operate a switch-actuating cam on the cage door.
