Abstract

756,399. Revolving radial-cylinder pumps. ANGUS & CO., Ltd., G., and TIMMS, J. T. April 22, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 12915/54. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A radial-cylinder pump comprises a cylinder block 16 fast with an input shaft 8 and having pistons 19 reciprocated by an eccentric ring 22, the eccentricity of which may be varied by screw and nut means. A port passage 30 leads from the head of each cylinder to a port p in a ring 31 carried by a series of bosses on the cylinder block so as to rotate therewith but free to move axially. Packing rings 32 prevent escape of liquid between the ring 31 and the face of the cylinder block. An auxiliary pump 9, which may be of the sliding vane type, supplies liquid to the inlet of the main pump. The pump may be of the axialcylinder type instead of radialcylinder.
