754,781. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. June 17, 1955 [June 23, 1954], No. 18400/54. Class 35. A machine with the commutator or slip-rings in a separate closed housing has an external fan on a separately rotatable shaft extending through the said housing in alignment with the machine shaft from which it is driven through a coupling arranged so that the fan drive may be engaged or disengaged solely by axial movement of the separately rotatable shaft as shown, the fan shaft 16 carries an inner fan 18 as well as the external fan 19 and is a sliding fit in the hub of clutch disc 27 which is coupled by springs 70 to the clutch plate 24 driven from the machine shaft 11 by studs 25.
