Class 122(5) [Also in Group XXIX] A gas-loaded hydraulic accumulator comprises a cylinder 10 provided with an annular land 16 which is in sliding engagement with the skirt 15 of a piston 13. O-rig seals 19, 20 are provided in grooves 17, 18 formed in the land 16, and a passage 21 maintains the space between the seals at atmospheric pressure to reduce leakage past the seals. In a modification for low pressure hydraulic systems the passage 21 communicates with a bag-type accumulator supplying high pressure fluid to maintain a high pressure differential on opposite sides of the seals.
