Abstract
752,488. Induction relays; protective cutout arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 21, 1954 [April 23, 1953], No. 11524/54. Class 38(5) An inverse time delay overcurrent relay which, after opening the protected circuit, resets without a delay, comprises an induction disc 15 driven by an electromagnet 21 against the bias of a spring 17 so that an arm 18 on the disc spindle 16 closes contacts 30 when the magnet winding 22 is energized by overcurrent conditions in the protected circuit L1, L2, L3, closure of contacts 30 causing energization of a trip coil 10 to open the breaker 11. A time delay is imparted to the close of contacts 30 by an electromagnet 34 which opposes the rotation of the disc, the magnet winding 35 being energized through a relay 26 which responds immediately to the overload. On opening the breaker 11 the relay 26 opens and since both the magnets 21, 34 are deenergized the disc 15 is returned without a delay by the spring 17 and contacts 30 are instantly opened.
