Abstract
752,307. Fluid-pressure brakes. KNORRBREMSE GES. Sept. 27,1954 [Sept. 25, 1953], No. 27852/54. Class 103 (1). In a triple valve for air-brakes, more particularly for railway vehicles, in which a pipe-line 41 is connected between a main air supply line 29 and a control chamber 37, 39 of the triple valve and includes a control arrangement which, upon a charging pulse occurring while the brake is released throttles the flow through the pipeline, the throttling parts of the control arrangement are disposed inside said control chamber. As shown, the piston 5 is in its position corresponding to the brakes being fully released so that chamber 39 is in communication through aperture 71 with the line 73 leading to the main air line 29 by way of sensitivity bore 74. On a charging pulse occurring in line 29 and chamber 80, the piston 5 is depressed to close off port 71 and flow to the reservoir 29 takes place only through nozzle 72 which is sufficiently small to guard against overcharging during a long pulse. Closure of port 71 also has the desirable effect of advancing the operation of device 76 which controls the charging of the auxiliary reservoir 17.
