Abstract
751,549. Printing-machines. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT.- GES. June 17, 1954 [June 17, 1953], No. 17861/54. Class 100 (2). Inking-apparatus.-In a rotary intaglio printing machine wherein the doctor shaft 3 is substantially below the axis of the forme cylinder 13, Fig. 4, and a rocking lever 11 fixed to the shaft 3 for moving the doctor quickly to or from the forme cylinder has its movement limited by stops, at least that stop 10, Fig. 1, or 17, Fig. 4, which is operative when the doctor is applied to the forme cylinder is secured to, a second lever 9 connected via a slide block 8 to the wormwheel 5 of a fine adjustment means 6, the second lever 9 being mounted freely on the doctor shaft and being so engaged with the slide block 8 as to slide thereon when the doctor and its shaft are reciprocated but to be rotated therewith under control of the fine adjustment means 6. As shown, the lever 9 is forked at its lower end to embrace the block 8. In Fig. 1 the lever 11 is manually operated and the stop 10 comprises a capstan-head screw which contacts the ends of a slot 12 in the lever 11 in the limit positions of the latter, and by which the levers 9, 11 are clamped together. In Fig. 4 the lever 11 is hydraulically or pneumatically operated by a motor 16 mounted on the lever 9; on admission of pressure fluid thereto under control of a manual valve (e.g. a single valve in a multicolour photogravure machine) the piston 15 through a plunger 14 forces the lever 11 against the stop 17, and in this state the fine adjustment is made by the worm means 6; when the pressure is relieved a spring 18 retracts the doctor until the piston 15 abuts the motor cover. Electromagnetic means may replace the motor 16.
