751,191. Drilling muds. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM'MAATSCHAPPIJ. July 29, 1954 [July 31, 1953], No. 22169/54. Class 85. A drilling fluid for use in earth-boring operations comprises a solid material, an aqueous liquid, and a quantity of one or more water-soluble, oxygen-containing, organic silicon compounds. Said compounds may be a water-soluble siliconate, e.g. sodium methyl siliconate, and the concentration of such compounds in the fluid is between 1 per cent and 5 per cent by weight. The solid material comprises clay and/or other weighting or suspending materials and the aqueous liquid may be an emulsion of oil and water. The pH value of the fluid is below 12.
