Abstract
751,059. Applying travellers to spinning &c. rings. CHIMIOTEX. June 21, 1954 [June 19, 1953], No. 18200/54. Class 120 (3). Travellers are applied to spinning and like rings by a device which moves a traveller across an edge of a ring in such manner that the rearward end of the traveller engages the edge, the movement being continued until the traveller pivots about the edge and engages the inside of the ring, whereupon a force is applied to the leading end of the traveller that urges it around the other edge of the ring. The travellers are preferably held side by side in a magazine 11 and may be stuck together with wax which holds them in position as they pass through an aperture 10 in the device ready to be urged towards the ring 17 by a plunger 6 that can be moved by a lever 14. Under pressure from a plunger 6, a traveller 13 has its leading end 13a passed over the upper portion 22 of the ring 17. When the following end 13b contacts the portion 22, the traveller 13 pivots, Fig. II, and the plunger 6 advances to turn a lever 18, the lower end 20 of which presses the leading end 13a around the lower edge 21 of the ring.
