Abstract
751,034. Travelling-wave tubes; magnetrons. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. March 18, 1954 [March 18, 1953], No. 7972/54. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XL (c)] The output of a travelling-wave magnetron is modulated by applying pulses between an auxiliary electrode 7 which supports the cathode 3 and the delay line 2. The auxiliary electrode is located in prolongation of the negative electrode 4. The cathode is normally blocked by a positive bias voltage on the auxiliary electrode. The auxiliary electrode may be electrically connected to the cathode. The cathode is indirectly heated, and the modulating pulses are applied to a transformer which has two secondary windings 17, 8 inserted in the cathode heating circuit. The pulses may be applied to a transformer which has its secondary winding inserted between the delay line and the cathode heating circuit. The auxiliary electrode is shaped to avoid deformation of the electric field.
