750,985. Slicing bread. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Aug. 13, 1954 [Sept. 17, 1953], No. 23547/54. Class 5 (1). In a bread-slicing machine with endless-band cutters 6 stretched between drums 3 and 4 driven by double V-belts 24 and 34 respectively from pulleys 22 on a motor shaft, the belts are tensioned by idler pulleys 25, 36 which tensioning does not affect the tension of the band cutters 6 since the spacing the drum 3 from the roll 4 is adjustably locked in position by a screw 19. The exterior V of the belt 24 is held in contact with an arc of the pulley 23 of the lower drum 4 by the idler pulleys 25 and 26, the pulley 26 being adjustable for tension by adjusting the position of its support arm 31 by a clamp bolt 32 in a slot 33. The other belt 34 may also be of double V cross-section and is tensioned by the pulley 36 on a pivoted arm 38 adjusted by a screw bolt 42. The belts 24 and 34 may be in duplicate.
