750,843. Fire alarm systems. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 25, 1955 [Feb. 25, 1954; May 14, 1954; May 14, 1954; May 14, 1954], Nos. 5634/54, 14263/54, 14264/54 and 14265/54. Class 118(1) [Also in Group XXXVI] A fire alarm system comprises one or more temperature-sensitive devices (see Group XXXVI), two conductors of which are connected to an electric supply by a circuit which includes a device responsive to a fall of resistance between the conductors. In one arrangement, four devices 53-56 are connected to terminals of one bank 57 of a two-bank uni-selector switch. The corresponding terminals of the other bank 58 are connected to lamps 59-62. As the switch rotates the devices 53-56 are successively connected with a D.C. supply 63 through a relay coil 64. When one of the devices 53-56 becomes conductive the relay 64 breaks the power supply to the switch so that it stops in the position in which the moving arm of bank 57 makes contact with the terminal connected to the device in question. The corresponding lamp remains alight until the switch is restarted or until the conductivity of the device in question falls.
