Abstract
750,585. Door fastenings. TANNEN, A. Dec. 7, 1954 [Aug. 10, 1954], No. 23276/54. Class 44. A fastening device for a door or the like to limit the angle of opening of the door comprises an arm 9 pivoted at one end to a member 11 on the jamb post of a doorway or the like, and a sliding bolt 8 carried by a member on the door or the like and at one end formed with a part 8b slidably interengaged with the arm 9 so that upon opening the door the arm is moved about its pivot, the free end of the arm being formed with an abutment to limit the opening movement of the door and the bolt-head being disengageable from the arm by rotation of the bolt on its axis. As applied to a door lock in which a latch 3 is retractable by a knob 4 on one side of the door and by a barrel lock on the other side, the lock casing 1 houses the bolt 8 and the arm 9 is pivoted through pins 12, 13 to the lug 11 on a keeper box 2 and is biased to the position shown in Fig. 1 by a torsion spring 13<SP>1</SP>. The end of the bolt 8 is formed with a tapering portion 8a and the head 8b has flats 8c thereon by which the head is retained between side flanges of the arm 9 as the bolt rotates the arm towards the position shown in Fig. 3. The bolt is disconnected from the arm 9 by rotation through 90 degrees by means of a turn button 8e and also may be withdrawn from the arm 9 by a lever 16 which is engaged with a pin 8d on the bolt when the lock is operated by a key to retract the latch 3.
