Abstract

748,495. Two-part couplings. YOUNG, S. G. Jan. 25, 1954 [Jan. 27, 1953], No. 2375/53. Class 38 (1). A socket contact comprises a terminal block 1, opposite sides of which are engaged by the limbs 9 of a resilient U-shaped strap 7 between the base 8 of which and the face 13 of the block is received a plug pin. Projections 10 on the limbs 9 engage recesses 6 in the block so that the strap may pivot. The base 8 and face 13 may be recessed to form a tubular socket for a round pin. In another construction, instead of providing the projections 10, the ends of the strap are inclined inwardly to engage surfaces formed by chamfering the rear edges of the block (Fig. 10, not shown). In a further modification, Fig. 11, projections 17 on a sheet-metal terminal 18 engage recesses 16 on the limbs of the strap.
