Abstract

746,912. Borehole linings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP WERF GUSTO VOORHEEN FIRMA A. F. SMULDERS. Feb. 11, 1954 [Feb. 18, 1953], No. 4064/54. Class 85 In a method for arranging a lining or tubbing in a shaft by lowering the lining down from the top of the shaft, the space between the shaft wall 1 and the lining 4 is kept filled with a viscous fluid 7 such as bitumen or thick oil. The bottom of the space is sealed by a flexible apron 13. The lining comprises steel-clad concrete 4 and carries a heavy shoe 5 equipped with a hard metal cutting edges. Bitumen can be introduced through holes 14 in the lining. The viscosity of the bitumen is controlled by circulating a heating medium through channels 18 or tubes in the outer surface of the lining. In a modification the shaft wall is previously lined with a sealing layer of concrete or asphaltic concrete. Specifications 664,136, 692,227 and 720,986 are referred to.
