Abstract
746,454. X-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 19, 1954 [July 18, 1953], No. 20982/54. Class 39 (1). An X-ray tube has means for restricting the X-ray beam so as to produce both a broad flat beam, of divergent angle 100 degrees or more, and a conical beam, of divergent angle about 50 degrees. In Fig. 1a, 2 is a hollow anode with a window 3 of the shape shown in Fig. 2c, so that both conical and flat beams are produced. A window of corresponding shape may be provided in an outer metallic casing surrounding the tube, Fig. 2a (not shown). Fig. 3b shows an alternative construction in which an annular member 8, 9 forming attachment means for auxiliary accessories has a conical aperture at one side and a slit-aperture 10 at the other side, either of which can be rotated in position to shape the emergent beam.
