Abstract

745,550. Locking-nuts. SOC. INTERNATIONALE DE RECHERCHES ET D'INVESTISSEMENTS S.I.R.I. May 15, 1953 [May 17, 1952], No. 13636/53. Class 89 (1). A spring-locking-washer has its radial crosssection twisted, in at least two zones A, B, Fig. 1, spaced around the washer, in alternate directions about a fibre lying between the inner and outer peripheries and within the thickness of the washer, so that in zone A the inner edge is higher than the outer edge, while in the adjacent zone B or zones the outer edge is higher than the inner edge. Twisting may occur in alternate directions in zones C ... F, Fig. 3, zone F extending across the split. The washer may be made of metal wire or strip and twisted before or after winding into shape. Teeth e1, e2, Fig. 6, may be formed on the inner and outer peripheries. In a modification, the washer is a closed ring punched from sheet material, and radially-extending notches are formed in each zone, alternately, from the inner and outer edges. In another modification, a conical washer has twisted zones.
