Abstract

744,920. Supporting and mounting bearings. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. July 13, 1954 [May 12, 1953], No. 13296/53. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] In a gas turbine engine, a bearing housing 54 downstream of the turbine motor disc is supported from the outer wall 63 of the exhaust duct structure by means of a series of strips 60 which are connected tangentially to the bearing housing. The strips have tablets 61 at their outer ends, the tablets being secured in holes in the wall 63. The strips are enclosed in aerofoil-section fairings 64 where they extend across the exhaust annulus. The bearing is cooled by air flowing through ports from the hollow shaft.
