744,083. Ring spinning. VELLA, L. June 16, 1953 [June 16, 1952; Sept. 3, 1952; Nov. 26, 1952], No. 16615/53. Class 120 (2). A textile ring spinning frame in which the ring rail 2 is movable vertically and thread guide supporting device 3 is slidable in a vertical guide 4, the thread guide, support being connected by flexible means to a driving means which is operable in response to the reciprocating and progressively upward movement of the ring rail in such a way that the distance between the thread guide 22 and the spindles 25 varies during the cop-winding operation is characterized in that a transmission member is inserted in the flexible means to transmit the motion of the driving means to the thread guide support, which also carries balloon controllers, the transmission member acting continuously but the amplitude of the transmitted motion being continuously modified at a variable rate, whereby the oscillation imparted to the thread guide support, which is in phase with the oscillation of the ring rail, is of gradually variable amplitude, the amplitude at the beginning of cop winding being lower than that of the ring rail, then gradually increasing as the winding proceeds until a preselected length of balloon is reached, after which said amplitude remains steady until the formation of the cop is completed. In the arrangement shown the transmission member comprises a cam 15 having one end of a rope 16 attached thereto the other end of the rope being attached to a piston stem 17 extending into a cylinder 18 which receives an oscillating motion from a rocking shaft 32 which also transmits oscillatory motion to the ring rail 2. A spring 19 surrounds the stem 17 between the piston and the top cover of cylinder 18. On the same shaft as cam 15 is a pulley 9 having one end of a rope 7 attached thereto the other end of this rope being connected to the thread guide support 3. A further cam is also mounted on the shaft 20 which cam supports a balance weight for balancing out the varying torques on the shaft 20. For doffing the thread guide supports are wound up by hand means connected to shaft 20 the balloon controllers 11 being tilted upward by a part thereof contacting a fixed nose 13.
