Abstract

743,906. Crimping yarns and filaments. HEATH & CO., Ltd., G. H. Nov. 23, 1953 [Nov. 21, 1952; Aug. 15, 1953], Nos. 29436/52 and 22547/53. Class 120 (3). Yarn, i.e. monofil yarn, a single thread, or a plurality of monofils or monofils bundled, twisted or doubled together, produced from synthetic materials, e.g. polyamide, polyester, or polyvinyl compositions, is crimped by pulling the yarn over a sharp or scraping edge, which is heated, with substantial change of direction at the edge, and setting the yarn in the crimped condition: after passing over the edge, the yarn may be given a twist some of which is subsequently removed. As shown, a yarn passes from a bobbin 11 through a guide 12 and tensioning device 13, around a grooved roller 14d, over a blade 14c heated by a thermostatically controlled electrical element 14b, through a guide 15, over feed rollers 16, 17 and through another guide 18 to a spinning ring 19d and take-up bobbin 19c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 558,297.
