743,245. Cleaning glass-polishing tools. GLACERIES DE LA SAMBRE SOC. ANON. July 11, 1952 [July 14, 1951], No. 17595/52. Class 60 The layer of felt 1, Fig. 2, on a glass polishing tool is sprayed with washing liquid and subjected to a vacuum in order to extract the polishing composition. The vacuum is applied by a hood 3 divided by partitions 6 into compartments which are each connected by branches 7 to a vacuum tube 4, a rubber packing ensuring air-tightness. In Fig. 4, a series of suction nozzles 9 are connected by an annular duct 11 to a vacuum duct 12 and sprinklers 13 are connected by an annular duct 14 to a water supply. The vacuum is periodically reduced and an angular movement imparted to the apparatus to subject the entire area of felt to both operations. The mixture withdrawn from the felt is allowed to collect in a tank 16 from which the polishing agent is. recovered. Fig. 7 shows another embodiment in which the backing of the tool is provided with holes 17 to which the suction nozzles 9 are ap plied while the sprinklers 13 are situated over the upper face of the felt. The fel may be brushed before and after these operations.
