743,092. Slewing jib-cranes. SUNDIN, E. O. Oct. 28, 1953 [Dec. 6, 1952], No. 29801/53. Class 78 (4). A jib 9, Fig. 5, pivoted at 6 to piston 5 working in cylinder 2, is rotated by engagement of rack 23, Fig. 2, with gear ring 22, the rack being actuated. by pistons 24, and the gear ring rotating about cylinder 2 so as to rotate pulleys 18 and thus, by means of cable 11, to rotate the jib. Additionally, when the piston 5 is elevated the jib rises horizontally till projection 13 on cable 11 engages abutment 14 on jib 9, at which point the jib continues to rise but pivots about axis 6. A screw permits adjustment of the rack 23.
