Abstract
741,407. Pulse-shaping circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES., [formerly TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE]. Nov. 30, 1953 [Nov. 29, 1952], No. 33129/53. Class 40 (6). A circuit for generating from a rectangular pulse a pulse having sides which slope in opposite directions comprises a storage circuit the charge of which is changed upon the occurrence of the leading edge of the rectangular pulse and is changed in the opposite direction upon the occurrence of the trailing edge of the pulse, both changes being terminated after a predetermined period. The Figure shows a circuit for converting a rectangular pulse applied at input 1 into a trapezoidal pulse at output 10. Diodes 3 and 4 are normally conducting and capacitors 5 and 6 remain uncharged until a positive pulse is applied at input 1 when on occurrence of its leading edge diode 3 is cut-off and capacitors 5 and 6 commence to charge towards the voltage +V1 until the peak voltage of the input pulse is reached when diode 3 conducts and the charging ceases. The charges on capacitors 5 and 6 are held until the trailing edge of the input pulse occurs when diode 3 is rendered conducting and capacitor 5 immediately discharges via diode 3 and resistor 7 and capacitor 6 discharges via resistor 9 until earth potential is reached when diode 4 becomes conducting. A trapezoidal pulse, Fig. 2 (not shown), is thus generated at output 10. If the period during which the capacitors are charged is made equal to the duration of the input pulse a triangular pulse is generated, Fig. 3 (not shown).
